Women's, Gender & Queer Studies Department at Cal Poly

Teaching, learning and doing in Women’s, Gender & Queer Studies (WGQS) at Cal Poly is designed to promote scholarly inquiry, education and activism. Our students are empowered to question and contribute to knowledge creation, community formation, activism, creative practice, and policymaking from interdisciplinary and intersectional perspectives.


The Women’s, Gender & Queer Studies Department offers two minors:

 

In addition, students from every college at Cal Poly complete coursework and engage in learn-by-doing experiences in Women’s, Gender & Queer Studies. The Women’s, Gender & Queer Studies Department offers courses that meet Cal Poly General Education requirements in areas A3, C1, D1, UD-B, UD-C, and UD-D. Many courses in WGQS are also designated as meeting United States Cultural Pluralism (USCP) criteria.
