Women's & Gender Studies Department at Cal Poly
Teaching, learning and doing in Women’s & Gender Studies at Cal Poly is designed to promote scholarly inquiry, education and activism. Our students are empowered to question and contribute to knowledge creation, community formation, activism, creative practice, and policymaking from interdisciplinary and intersectional perspectives.

In addition, students in majors in every college at Cal Poly complete coursework and engage in learn-by-doing experiences in Women’s & Gender Studies. The Women’s & Gender Studies Department offers courses that meet Cal Poly General Education requirements in areas C4, D1, D5, and F. Many courses in Women’s & Gender Studies are also designated as meeting United States Cultural Pluralism (USCP) criteria.
